News Release from the Chairman on the Murder of George Floyd
The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area stands with the family of George Floyd. We do not accept the circumstances of his needless murder and call for the most punitive charges to be filed against all four Minneapolis Police Department Officers present during his murder, whom we believe are accomplices to his murder.
The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area also stands with the protesters exercising their constitutionally-recognized rights across the country. The few who take advantage of the protests to loot and vandalize will not be allowed to reduce the power of our combined voice.
The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area will always stand with those fighting for freedom and equality in our community; we will never tolerate or turn a blind eye to injustice in our community. We ask that you join us in the fight to seek justice for the family of George Floyd. Further, we ask that you join us in helping make sure we do not have to respond to another murder of a Black man by a law enforcement. We must act to protect our community; there has been too much violence – recorded and unrecorded, by both law enforcement and common civilians – inflicted on our community. The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area stands with you; please take care and stay safe.
